ABOUT

Who I am

I am a senior Psychology Major and Sustainability minor at the University of Notre Dame. I am co-founder of the We Are 9 movement for Divestment from fossil fuels at Notre Dame and Director of campaigns for GreeND. I conducted biological research and studied conservation ecology in Monteverde, Costa Rica over the summer of 2014. Other notable experiences include an internship with the Director of Big Cypress National Preserve and an internship as a sustainability initiative coordinator for a pharmaceutical company. I am pursuing environmental advocacy post-graduation, joining Impact as a campaign organizer for Environment America based in Denver, CO.

Why I do this

  • To document the work of the Divestment movement that I co-founded and launched in February 2014

  • As a resource/reference point to future leaders of the Divestment movement at ND

  • As a resource for news and updates for Catholics concerned about climate change and injustice

  • As a means of comparison to other institutions, religiously affiliated or not

  • To create more media surrounding Divestment at catholic institutions, specifically Notre Dame in order to support the cause and spread awareness

  • In order to provide context for a comparison of the effectiveness of Divestment campaigns of the past (i.e. apartheid) and the Divestment from fossil fuel campaign
